# WebEngine > We don't build websites. We build web engines. A website built to be found on Google, understood by AI and chosen by customers. We research it, build it, tell Google and Bing it's there, keep it safe — and keep it up to date. - Start a project: https://webengine.io/#start - How it works: https://webengine.io/#anatomy - Contact: info@webengine.io - Parent company: VIS Mountain (https://vismountain.com) --- ## A new website that nobody can find is a band-aid. - **Google keeps the clicks:** 68.01% — of US Google searches ended with no click to any website — January to April 2026. [SparkToro, 2026 zero-click study](https://sparktoro.com/blog/in-2026-less-than-one-third-of-google-searches-still-send-a-click/) - **The AI answer sits on top:** 58% — fewer clicks for the #1 result when Google's AI answer appears above it. [Ahrefs, AI Overviews and click-through rate](https://ahrefs.com/blog/ai-overviews-reduce-clicks-update) - **Six places, six stories:** 6 stories — Google, Bing, ChatGPT, your listings, your reviews and your website — each telling a slightly different version of you. - **They found you. Then they left.:** 11 fields — Slow on a phone. A number you can't tap. A form that asks for eleven things. No clear next step. It keeps happening because the pieces were never connected. The search results page used to be a hallway people walked through on their way to your website. Increasingly it is the destination: the answer, the map, the reviews and the phone number all appear before anyone clicks. SparkToro's clickstream analysis found that 68.01% of US Google searches between January and April 2026 ended without a click to any website. When Google shows an AI Overview, the first organic result loses a large share of its clicks — Ahrefs measured a 58% lower click-through rate for position one across 300,000 keywords. ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Copilot and Grok now answer the same questions directly, and they name only a handful of businesses. Assistants name the businesses whose information is consistent, specific and checkable across the web: the website, the Google Business Profile, directories, reviews and social profiles all agreeing. A five-page brochure site that buries the answer four scrolls down does not get quoted — and when a visitor does arrive, a slow page, an untappable phone number or a long form loses them anyway. That is why a new website on its own rarely fixes the problem. The website, the listings, the reviews and the follow-up have to work as one system. --- ## The web keeps changing what a website is for. - **Web 1.0 (1995):** You read it. Pages of text and links. A hit counter. A guestbook. - **Web 2.0 (2006):** You posted on it. Feeds, profiles and apps. Everyone could post. - **Web 3.0 (2021):** You were promised you'd own it. Wallets, tokens and a lot of hype. - **Web Engine (Now):** It works for you. Read by people. Understood by AI. Ready for the AI helpers that now search and compare for your customers. Web 1.0 was a library: you read pages. Web 2.0 was a stage: everyone posted. Web 3.0 promised ownership and mostly delivered speculation. What has actually changed in the last two years is the reader. A growing share of the people deciding where to eat, which clinic to call or which contractor to hire now start with an AI assistant that reads the web for them. A web engine is a website built for both readers at once. For people it is fast, clear and obvious about what to do next. For machines it is structured: services, locations, hours, people and prices described in schema markup, summarised in an llms.txt file, published as answer-first pages, and kept consistent with every listing and review profile the business has. And it does not stand still. A web engine is managed: researched before it is designed, indexed the day it launches, and updated by a team as the business changes. --- ## Every website now has two audiences. ### People feel it - Loads before they lose patience - Says what you do in one line - One obvious next step on every screen - Trust they can see — reviews, faces, proof ### Google and AI read it - A clear label on every service, place and person - Answers at the top, easy for AI to quote - A summary file for AI, and open doors for AI search bots - Facts that match every listing, everywhere Nobody can promise that AI will name your business — be wary of anyone who does. We make you the clearest, most consistent, easiest-to-check answer in your field and your area. Then we check whether the AI tools are naming you. AI assistants that browse the web — ChatGPT search, Gemini and Google's AI Overviews, Microsoft Copilot, Perplexity, Grok — retrieve pages from a search index, read them, and compose an answer. They favour sources that answer the question directly, state facts plainly, and agree with other sources about the same business. Structured data (schema.org markup) states those facts in a form machines do not have to guess at: the business name, address, phone, hours, services, service areas, the people behind it and the reviews it has earned. Google is explicit that there is no special markup required for its AI features — the fundamentals of crawlable, helpful, well-structured pages are what count — and that is exactly what a web engine is built on. Agents are the next reader. Google's own crawler list now includes an agent that performs actions at a user's request, Chrome has started checking pages for agent-readiness (a clean accessibility tree and a stable layout), and commerce protocols such as Google's Universal Commerce Protocol and the Agentic Commerce Protocol from Stripe and OpenAI let assistants work with merchants directly. These are early and platform by platform, so a web engine is built on the parts that already matter — semantic HTML, accessible interfaces, structured data and clean booking and buying paths — and is ready to plug into the protocols as they mature. llms.txt is a proposed convention: a plain-text summary at the root of a site that points language models to the pages that matter. Google Search ignores it, and an Ahrefs study found most published files receive no requests at all — so we treat it as a cheap courtesy to the tools that do read it, not a ranking lever. This site publishes one. --- ## One engine. Fourteen parts, each with one job. 01. **Research** — We learn what your customers search for before we design anything. The questions people actually ask, what Google's AI answer and the AI assistants already say, who shows up on the map around you, and how real customers describe the problem. 02. **Page plan** — A page for every service and every place you serve. Our AKA framework — Authority, Knowledge, Answer: main pages for what you do, guides that teach, and answer pages for the exact questions people type and speak, mapped to every service and every place you serve. 03. **Phone-first** — Big text, fast pages, one clear next step. Designed for thumbs and phones first, easy to read at any age, with the phone number, the booking button and the reviews and proof always one tap away. 04. **Fast code** — Modern code, served from servers close to your visitors. Fast, secure and accessible by design — every build is checked for SEO, speed and accessibility before it goes live. 05. **Labels** — Every page labeled so Google and AI know who you are. Structured data (schema), entities and E-E-A-T signals for your business, services, locations and people, so search engines and AI know exactly who you are, what you do and why you can be trusted. 06. **Google & Bing** — We tell Google and Bing about your site on launch day. Google Search Console and Bing Webmaster Tools set up and your page list (sitemap) submitted — and on engines we host, IndexNow alerts Bing and other participating search engines whenever a page changes. 07. **AI-ready** — Ready for AI assistants, and the AI helpers that search and book for people. Clear rules for which AI search bots get in, answers at the top of every page, services, locations and booking paths machines can read, an llms.txt summary file — and readiness for the new ways AI agents will shop and book. 08. **Intelligence** (Engine Intelligence) — Your Google and Bing data shows us what to improve next. With your permission, every month we read Google Search Console and Bing Webmaster Tools to see which searches find you and which pages are rising or slipping, then improve titles, words and answers to match. Your services and the areas you serve are linked to each other, and to answer pages where those exist, with rules that keep the links natural. 09. **Security** — Kept updated, locked tight, and careful with AI. Updates and security patches for your site's software, and logins and forms protected against bots when we take your site on. AI gets guardrails too: chat agents get a narrow job, any AI we run for you treats what it reads as information — never as orders — and AI search bots are invited where they can mention you and asked to stay out of the rest. 10. **Engine Agent** (Engine Agent) — Answers questions and takes new enquiries, day or night. Engine Agent answers common questions in conversation, saves each enquiry to your CRM (your customer list), which remembers every customer, and hands anything it shouldn't handle to your team. 11. **Reviews** (Bird Local) — More reviews. Less effort. Review requests, review replies and a live review widget on your site — real reviews from your own customers, never filtered to only the happy ones. 12. **Listings** (Branding Signal) — Your name, address and phone — the same everywhere. Kept identical across the listings and directories that maps and AI assistants rely on. 13. **Conversion** (Dash Funnels) — Every lead captured and followed up. Forms, booking and automatic follow-up all flow into one CRM, so no enquiry sits in an inbox nobody checks. 14. **Pit crew & the Hub** (the Hub) — Ask any time. Most changes are live within 24 hours. Open a request in your VIS Mountain Hub — or just email it — any time of day. Every request becomes a tracked ticket the team works from, so requests don't get lost in an inbox, and content, photos, hours, pages and offers stay current. Research comes first. Before design starts we harvest the live search results for your services and area: the People Also Ask questions, what the AI Overview says and which sources it cites, the local map pack, and the competitors around you. That research decides the page plan. The page plan follows the AKA framework — Authority, Knowledge, Answer. Authority hubs cover each service you offer; knowledge guides explain the topic in depth; answer pages take the exact questions people ask and answer them in the first paragraph, the format search engines and assistants quote. Across nine live VIS Mountain builds the average launch was 94 pages, depending on services and service areas. Every engine ships with sitewide structured data, technical SEO, accessibility work and speed budgets, and launches through quality gates for titles, metadata, schema, links and performance. On launch day it is submitted to Google Search Console and Bing Webmaster Tools, and on engines we host, IndexNow notifies participating search engines whenever pages change. The outer layers connect the site to the rest of your presence: Branding Signal keeps your business information consistent across listings and directories, Bird Local runs review requests and responses, and Dash Funnels captures every lead into one CRM with automated follow-up. --- ## From your niche to your next customer. Getting found on Google is planned in from day one, not added later. You see the plan before we build. 01. **Discover** — We learn your business, your goals and how you want to sound. 02. **Research** — What people search, what AI says, who's on the map and the words customers use. 03. **Blueprint** — Every service in every place you serve, in one plan you approve. 04. **Build** — Design, words, photos and code on a private preview you can click through. 05. **Launch** — Final checks, old links pointed to new pages, sent to Google and Bing — live. 06. **Grow** — Changes made for you, reports, and ongoing Google and AI search work as you grow. Discovery covers the business, the people behind it, the services that matter most, the areas you serve and the voice you want. Research then turns live search data into a plan: the questions customers ask, the answers AI already gives, the competitors that win locally, and the language customers use. The blueprint is the strategy in one document — a topical map of every service and every location page, how they link, and what each page must answer. Geo SEO is designed in from the first page, whether the engine is a local practice, a multi-location brand, a directory or a store. The build happens on a private preview so you can click through real pages before launch. Launch includes redirects from any old addresses, quality gates, and submission to Google and Bing. After launch the engine is managed: changes, reporting and, on growth plans, ongoing SEO, AEO and GEO. --- ## Whatever you sell, there's an engine for it. - **Practice engine** (Clinics · dental · legal · financial): Services, providers, insurance and booking — with the trust details regulated businesses need. - **Local service engine** (Home services · trades · local pros): A real page for every service in every town you cover — built to make the phone ring. - **Multi-location engine** (One brand · many doors): Every location gets its own page, built to earn its own place in search, reviews and on the map. - **Directory engine** (Marketplaces · listings · data): Thousands of unique pages built from real data — not copy-and-paste filler. - **Commerce engine** (E-commerce · catalogs): Products described clearly for shoppers — and for the AI tools that help people shop. - **Authority engine** (Experts · B2B · content brands): Guides and answers built to be the source others — and AI — quote. - **Funnel engine** (Campaigns · offers · lead gen): Landing pages, offers, booking and follow-up in one path you can measure. --- ## Every platform. One trusted brand. Your website becomes the one true source. Google, maps, AI, listings, reviews, social, payments and your CRM all work from the same facts. - **Search & AI:** Google Business Profile, ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity - **Maps, listings & reviews:** Apple Maps, Yelp, Nextdoor, Foursquare, Tripadvisor, BBB - **Social:** Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, LinkedIn, WhatsApp - **Commerce & payments:** Stripe, Shopify, WooCommerce, Square, PayPal, QuickBooks - **Tools you already use:** Google Calendar, Gmail, Calendly, Zoom, HubSpot, Mailchimp, Zapier, Google Sheets, WordPress, Webflow A web engine sits at the centre of a business's online presence. It works alongside the Google Business Profile, Bing Places and Apple Maps listings that power map results; the review platforms customers check; the social profiles that carry the brand; and the booking, payment, calendar and CRM tools the business already runs on. Consistency is the point. AI assistants and search engines cross-check what a website says against listings and reviews elsewhere. When the website is the single source of truth — and Branding Signal keeps listings matched to it — the business is described the same way everywhere a customer, or an assistant, looks. Product names and logos belong to their owners and are shown to indicate the platforms WebEngine works with; they do not imply a partnership or endorsement, except where stated (VIS Mountain is a Google Partner). --- ## You ask. It's handled. A website is never finished. Ask for new hours, a new service, a fresh photo or a new page — most changes are live within 24 hours. ### The Engine (Build) We research, plan, design, build and launch it. - Research on your market and what people search - A page plan for every service and area - Design, words and photos - Behind-the-scenes SEO, labels for Google and AI (schema) and accessibility - Old links redirected, sent to Google and Bing, AI summary file ### Managed (Monthly) Your site, kept fast, secure and current. - Fast managed hosting with SSL, updates and security patches - Ask through the Hub any time — most changes live within 24 hours - Review requests and a live review widget (Bird Local) - Google Business Profile tuned up at launch - Website enquiries sent straight to your CRM ### Managed + Growth (Monthly) Everything in Managed, plus a team helping more people find you. - Engine Intelligence: with your permission, a monthly look at your Google and Bing data, then improvements - Your services and areas linked together as new pages go live - Ongoing Google and AI search work (SEO, AEO, GEO), with new pages as your market moves - Google Business Profile and listings work - Checks on whether the major AI assistants mention you - Monthly reports ### Custom (Scoped) For bigger or unusual projects. - Multi-location and franchise builds - Directories and data-driven sites - Online stores and catalogs - Custom tools, connections and apps - Planned around what you need Managed means a real team on your site every month — not an unlimited queue. Your plan covers the everyday changes a business needs; bigger projects are scoped with you first, so you always know what you're getting. Every web engine can be managed by the team that built it. The Managed plan covers hosting, updates and security patches, requests through the VIS Mountain Hub at any hour, and the everyday content changes a business needs — hours, services, staff, photos, offers and new pages within the plan. Most changes are live within 24 hours. Managed + Growth adds ongoing search work: on-page and technical SEO, answer engine optimization (AEO) and generative engine optimization (GEO), new content as your market changes, Google Business Profile and listings work, AI visibility checks and monthly reporting. Managed is not unlimited development. Larger projects — a redesign, a new section with dozens of pages, a custom tool or integration — are scoped with you first. And the website is yours either way. --- ## The six-figure website. Without the six-figure invoice. Research, planning, design and code, made ready for AI — plus reviews, listings, CRM and a team that keeps it running. Big brands hire five companies for all that. You get it as one managed engine, for a fraction of the cost. | | Template site | Typical agency build | WebEngine | |---|---|---|---| | We learn what your customers search for before we design | no | sometimes | yes | | Launches with 90+ pages on average — about two years of blog posts on day one | no | no | yes | | A page for every service and every area you serve | no | sometimes | yes | | Designed for phones first, with a clear way to call or book on every page | no | sometimes | yes | | Accessible: readable, tappable, works with screen readers | no | sometimes | yes | | Built to a 90+ Google PageSpeed target, tested before launch | no | sometimes | yes | | Fast managed hosting with SSL | sometimes | sometimes | yes | | Security updates, locked-down logins and guardrails for AI | no | sometimes | yes | | Easy for AI to read: clear labels and answers up top | no | no | yes | | Sent to Google and Bing on launch day | no | sometimes | yes | | Engine Intelligence (Growth plans): with your permission, monthly improvements from your Google and Bing data | no | no | yes | | Engine Agent available: answers and takes enquiries day and night | no | no | yes | | Reviews, listings and follow-up all connected | no | no | yes | | Managed plans: ask any time — most changes live within 24 hours | no | no | yes | Enterprise and complex website builds are commonly quoted at $100,000 to $500,000+ (Outerbox, 2026); larger businesses with complex sites can pay $100,000+ on design alone (WebFX, 2026). “Typical” describes what we most often find when we audit small-business sites; individual providers vary. “Two years ahead” is arithmetic: four blog posts a month for 24 months is about 96 pages, and our launches average 90+ pages (94 across nine live builds), depending on services and areas. PageSpeed is measured with Google's PageSpeed Insights; results vary by page and content. --- ## Separate, each solves a problem. (https://dashfunnels.com) --- ## Questions people ask us. ### What is a web engine? A web engine is a website built for two audiences at once: the people who visit it and the search engines and AI assistants that read it on their behalf. It is researched before it is designed, structured with schema and answer-first pages, indexed on Google and Bing at launch, connected to your reviews, listings and CRM, and managed by a team after launch. ### How is WebEngine different from a web design agency? Most agencies hand over a finished website. WebEngine starts with search research, builds the SEO into the page plan from the first page, launches with indexing and an AI layer in place, and then manages the site — most changes are live within 24 hours. Reputation (Bird Local), listings (Branding Signal) and lead follow-up (Dash Funnels) are part of the same system. ### Can you guarantee ChatGPT or Google will recommend my business? No — and nobody honestly can. What we can do is make your business the clearest, most consistent and most checkable answer in its category and area: structured data, answer-first pages, matching listings and genuine reviews. On Growth plans, we then check month over month whether the major assistants are naming you. ### What are SEO, AEO and GEO? SEO (search engine optimization) helps your pages rank in search results. AEO (answer engine optimization) shapes content so it can be used as a direct answer — in featured snippets, voice assistants and AI Overviews. GEO (generative engine optimization), a term from a 2023 Princeton-led research paper, focuses on being understood and cited by generative AI tools such as ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Copilot and Grok. Google's own guidance is that optimizing for generative AI search is still SEO — which is why a web engine treats all three as one discipline. ### What is llms.txt and do I need one? llms.txt is a proposed convention: a plain-text file at the root of a website that summarises the site for large language models. Be realistic about it — Google Search ignores it, and a 2026 Ahrefs study found most published files get no requests. It costs almost nothing, so every web engine includes one as a courtesy to the tools that do read it (ours is at webengine.io/llms.txt), but the real work is structured, answer-first, consistent content. ### Does schema markup help with AI search? Schema markup states facts about your business — services, locations, hours, people, reviews — in a structured format that search engines read reliably. Google says no special markup is required for its AI features, but well-structured, crawlable pages with accurate structured data are the foundation those features draw on, and consistent facts make your business easier for any system to understand. ### Can AI agents book or buy from my website? Partly, and it is early. AI assistants can already read a well-built site and send customers to its booking or checkout pages, and the big platforms are testing ways for assistants to finish a purchase. A web engine is built with clean, accessible booking and buying paths and structured data, so it is ready as those options mature. ### How much does a website like this usually cost? Published industry guides put most custom projects between a few thousand and $100,000 (Clutch reports an average verified project of $38,105), with enterprise and complex builds at $100,000 to $500,000 or more (Outerbox, 2026). WebEngine delivers that depth — research, architecture, AI readiness, reputation, listings, CRM and management — for a fraction of it. Pricing depends on the engine type and scope; tell us what you're building and we'll send a plan. ### What is Engine Intelligence? Engine Intelligence is the monthly optimization loop in our Managed + Growth plans. With your permission, we read your Google Search Console and Bing Webmaster Tools data every month — which searches find you, which pages are rising or slipping, what isn't indexed — and tune titles, copy and answers to match. Separately, your services and service areas are linked to each other, and to answer pages where those exist, by rules that keep the links natural. Then you see what moved and what we changed. ### What is Engine Agent? Engine Agent is an AI assistant for your website. It answers common questions in conversation, takes the intake a form would — the details your team needs — and sends each enquiry into your CRM with a summary and next step. It says it's an automated assistant, it doesn't give medical or legal advice, and it hands off to your team during the hours you set. Your CRM is what remembers each customer, so follow-ups can be personal. ### How do you keep a website secure? Managed engines get updates and security patches for their software, logins and forms hardened when we take the site on, and plugins vetted before they're installed. AI gets guardrails too: chat agents are set up with a narrow job, and any AI we run on your behalf treats what it reads as information, never as instructions. No one can honestly promise a site can never be attacked — we keep yours current and locked down. ### What does “managed” mean? A team runs your site after launch: hosting, updates and security patches, and the everyday content changes your business needs, with most changes live within 24 hours. Growth plans add ongoing SEO, AEO and GEO, new content, listings work and monthly reporting. Larger projects are scoped with you first. ### What kinds of websites do you build? Practice sites for clinics and professional firms, local service sites, multi-location brands, directories and data-driven sites, e-commerce, authority and content sites, and lead-generation funnels. Each starts from the same engine and is tuned to the market. ### Do I own my website? Yes. The website is yours either way. ### Who is behind WebEngine? WebEngine is a VIS Mountain company. VIS Mountain has 20+ years in the industry, is a Google Partner, and has worked with 100+ businesses and clinics. Branding Signal, Bird Local and Dash Funnels are sister products in the same ecosystem. --- ## Start your engine. Answer a few questions — about two minutes.
